Polocrosse this weekend!

Unlike the more well known horse sport of Polo which is associated with British Royalty, annual social events with champagne and polo ponies. Polocrosse is the Outback Australian originated bastard child that is tougher, faster, more entertaining and completely unpretentious.

What makes Polocrosse a more interesting sport to watch is that the ball is carried by players in a Lacrosse like stick which allows play to occur laterally around the field as the ball is contested. This is distinct from Polo where the ball is hit along the ground with a mallet which causes the game to be played mostly straight up and down the field.

This weekend on the 4th and 5th of April, teams from Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia will play in the interstate competition at Morgan Park in Warwick.

I can not urge more strongly that Brisbane people take the trip down even for one day to see this sport played at a competitive level. It won’t have the same massive crowds that the 2007 World Cup attracted at the same venue. Though you will see a spectacular sport, mix with salt of the earth country people and have a truly excellent day.

He Died with a Felafel in His Hand

The hilarious Brisbane share house story so very well known from the 1994 novel, the 2001 film and the longest running stage play in Australian history, He Died with a Felafel in His Hand, is again treading the boards this time at the Brisbane Arts Theatre.

Forget this oblivious review by an ABC 612 listener. There have been plenty of excellent reviews already on The Twitters. While the orginal author John Birmingham said of opening night…

Some of the actors did some of the best work I’ve seen in that show. Ever. I believe I may have wet my pants a little bit laughing so much. (via Cheeseburger Gothic)

Selling out by becoming bloggers

We’ve been keeping it real as hardcore Brisbane tweeters over the last few months. Faithfully recording every mundane narcissistic thought about our fine city. But something has been missing. Something more substantial. Money, fame, women and the ability satisfy a hungry media audience with content that is greater in size than 140 text characters.

Which is why in marketing speak we’ve decided to extend the distribution of our brand into the blogosphere. Yep, we’ve sold out by becoming bloggers. This probably won’t assist with helping to attain money, fame or women, it does give us the chance to dribble on unintelligibly like this. Anyway, Twitter really is just premature ejaculate media. Which is ace for internet afflicted late-onset ADHD suffers. But like sex, some people want their media to last for more than 20 seconds. *sigh*

We do however promise to maintain the same standard of non-existent comprehension of the rules of grammar and use of wannabe youth language when presenting the mix of content that has included reviews of local cupcake shops, blatant attempts to score free tickets to gigs, undeclared product placement, insecure passive aggressive comments about failed relationships, veiled threats against local cupcake shops, links to stuff and uneducated thoughts about political things all of which has made us the 186th most popular Twitter user in Brisbane.

Exciting times.
